Beaverbrook Art Gallery

The gallery is open year round and features important works by contemporary Canadian and New Brunswick artists and a large collection of 16th - to 20th century British and European paintings, including Boudin, Dali, Krieghoff, Hilliard, Hogarth, Reynolds and Gainsborough.

Historic Garrison District

The Garrison District a national historic site and Fredericton's premier cultural and festival centre. Located along the river front in the heart of downtown and set behind a wrought iron and stone fence, Fredericton's Historic Garrison District recalls the drama, the glory and often harsh reality of our military past.

‘School Days’ Museum
Enjoy a visit to yesterday! The museum contains a vast collection of artifacts, archival material, books and furniture used in the public schools, teacher training and Department of Education in New Brunswick, dating as far back as the mid-19th century.

Soldiers’ Barracks
The Soldiers’ Barracks is an 1827 three-storey stone structure built by the British Army to accommodate more than 200 British soldiers. One barrack room has been restored to illustrate the building’s original use.

The Guard House
The restored Orderly Room in the Guard House, with its nominal rolls and leave passes, looks much as it did in 1829 when it was first occupied by the 1st Battalion of the Rifle Brigade.

NB Sports Hall of Fame
The John Thurston Clark Memorial Building which houses the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame. The only museum dedicated to celebrating New Brunswick’s rich sports heritage.

York-Sunbury Historical Society Museum
Inside the one time Officers' Quarters is now a museum operated by the York Sunbury Historical Society. The domestic and military history of the city of Fredericton and surrounding area is told through displays throughout the building.

Officers’ Square
It was a centre of militia activity when Fredericton was garrisoned by the British Army from 1785 to 1869, and by the Canadian Army from 1883 to 1914. During July and August it is the site for outdoor summer concerts, the Changing of the Guard ceremony, daily outdoor theatre, and a variety of festivals and events.

Rates: Free Entry to the Garrison District – some attractions and activities within the district charge a nominal fee.



Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick

The building is open year round and has been the seat of government in New Brunswick since 1882. Visitors are welcome and tours are available; however, interpretation of the chamber is not permitted when the legislature is in session. The library which contains more than 30,000 books, has an excellent collection of New Brunswick materials.

Kingswood Park

Kingswood Park is open year round and is Fredericton's largest, one-stop family entertainment centre. The center offers 30 lanes of Candlepin bowling as well as six lanes of 10-pin bowling, climbing structure, inflatable airplane and bouncy castle, fun games, banquet and birthday room, food court with Pizza Hut Express, a world-class gymnastics facility and state-of-the art fitness center and a championship 18-hole public golf course designed by Graham Cookie featuring five-tee decks ranging from 5600 - 7100 yards, driving range and power cart rentals.

Christ Church Cathedral

Built between 1845-53 and open year round, it was the first new cathedral foundation on British soil since the Norman Conquest in 1066, under the auspices of Bishop John Medly (the first Bishop of Fredericton). His exquisite cenotaph is at the east end of the cathedral. Guided Tours. A National Historic Site.

Old Government House

Built between 1826-28 as the home of the New Brunswick's lieutenant-governor and governors, it is now a national and provincial historic site. The 11-acre (4.5-hectare) site on the banks of the St. John River was once the location of the 17th-century Acadian settlement known as Saint-Anne. The building was restored in 1999 to its earlier splendor and is now the seat of office and residence of New Brunswick's lieutenant-governor. It also features New Brunswick art and craft displays.

Hartt Island

An outdoor activity park (Bucket Club): boat rides, bass fishing, waterslides, canoes, kayaks, golf balls, walking and biking trails, and camping.

Witness the bustle of farm life, and learn first hand how ordinary people lived and worked in the 19th century. An epic story that’s more than just history, it’s history, well told.

You will find over 70 historic buildings, complete with artifacts, furniture, tools and equipment. The history is real, the stories you hear are true. Staff are thoroughly trained and immersed in the 19th century to provide you, the visitor, with an authentic visit to New Brunswick in the 1800s.

New Brunswick Summer Music Festival

The New Brunswick Summer Music Festival brings to N.B. the best in live chamber music in a festival setting. The festival draws from the wealth of local talent, combined with some of the finest young Canadian musicians on the international concert circuit today.



Fredericton Exhibition (FREX)

The Fredericton Exhibition includes an agriculture exhibition, largest Provincial Draft Horse Show, commercial exhibits, Horticulture, Floriculture, Home Economics and Handicrafts, Harness Racing, free daily stage show, petting zoo and pony rides, midway, feature outside attractions, and NB craft people. The largest regional exhibition in the Atlantic.



Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival

This fall event brings together world-class musicians and up-and-coming Atlantic Canadian artists for five days and nights of slick jazz, gritty blues, spicy Cajun, world beat music and more. Events for all ages - indoor and outdoor venues.



Whisky, Spirits and Liqueurs Festival

This festival offers some of the world's finest Spirits, Single Malt Whiskies, blended Scotches, Cognacs, Brandies and Liqueurs. Enjoy samplings and informative seminars by experts about your favorite libations. NB Liquor store on site with discounts on all show products for all attendees.



City Hall, Clockworks & Bicentennial Tapestries

Fredericton’s City Hall is the oldest City Hall still in use in the Maritime provinces. Visitors to the building can tour the Council Chamber where a series of tapestries, ‘The Last 200 Years’, the tapestries are permanently displayed.



Lighthouse on the Green

Fredericton's downtown lighthouse, on the banks of the St. John River, is fun for the whole family! You'll find lots yummy treats or lunch items, special Fredericton souvenirs, visitor information and tickets for local day adventures and special events.



Science East

New Brunswick's only science centre with over 100 hands- on exhibits that teach the basics of science in a fun & entertaining way. Featuring a hands-on outdoor playground, many special events, exhibits, lectures, workshops and demos, the centre is located in the former York County Jail and many of the original features of this distinguished historic building have been preserved - the cells, with heavy barred doors, now house interactive exhibits, and the original pressed-tin ceiling panels and wooden floors can still be seen.



W.W. Boyce Farmers’ Market

Fredericton's original market since 1951 is open every Saturday, 6 am to 1 pm with over 200 vendors and was recently named one of the top eight (8) Farmers' Markets to visit in Canada (Harrowsmith Magazine, June 2006).



Boss Gibson’s Marysville (National Historic District)

As one of Canada’s best preserved examples of a 19th-century mill town, Marysville, just 10 km from the centre of Fredericton, was designated a National Historic District by the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada.
